I heavily uses IM, mostly pidgin on several machines.

And all my logs are “distributed”, so I wanted a place where to store them.

I know some services already exists, like im-history or dexrex but I’m not really a big fan.

How about using a storage place where you can sort data, search it and just having many access interfaces? GMail!

So yes the idea is not new (gaim2imap and IMLogs2 for example) but I needed my own.

Feel free to use comments to fix bugs, add stuff, and so on. I’ll be glad. It worked for me in most cases, maybe not for you.

Next ideas for this script:

  • Make a pidgin plugin
  • Convert Meebo logs (and fetch them directly?) to feed this script
